Ayurveda is the ancient science of life and according to its knowledge; we are all born with a unique body type (Prakruti). Our body type (Vata, Pitta, Kapha or a combination of these) which is characterized by features like our body composition, eye color, hair type, bone structure etc. is constant. In order to maintain good health, we should consume food that supports our natural body type. However because of many reasons, we may experience some dosha imbalances (Vikruti) from time to time and we may need to adjust our diet to pacify this current vitiation in our body.

There are many ways to find out the current imbalance (Vikruti) in our body, and skin analysis is one of them. According to the knowledge of Ayuveda, our outer s...

Step 1: Accepting the situation as it is

Whenever, any health problem is revealed we take a lot of time to accept that it actually happened to us. Some people might say why this happened to us, others might think we can’t be so unlucky and some other may become so depressed or hopeless.
In any such situation, we must first focus all our energies in accepting it as is and stop giving any more attention to our problem.  We may accept it as some self-work assigned to us by God in order to bring about the much needed positive changes in our life.

Step 2: Taking responsibility

We must take full responsibility for our ill health, and know that we might have some what deviated from the path of good health and harmony in the past, that we...

Our body has an in-built intelligence to maintain good health as it is constantly working to eliminate any undesired substances or toxins from it. Everyday we are exposed to so many toxins in our air, water, food, cleaning products and self care products etc. Much toxic waste is also generated within the body whenever we experience negative states of mind, under stress or if there are some nutritional deficiencies in the body which lead to incomplete digestion of food. Although our body is working to expel these toxins everyday, it has a limited in-built capacity to do so. Over time, these toxins may build up in the body and affect our overall health. We may experience symptoms such as occasional fatigue, constipation, bloating,...

Meditation practice may be used as a wonderful tool to relax our central nervous system and bring the feeling of peace to us instantly. All of us are so much busy with our daily activities that we keep postponing our meditation practice, even if we clearly understand it's importance. In my opinion taking just 1 minute break for your practice everyday is much more beneficial than a longer practice once a week or so. We need to train our mind and body for stillness, and consistency is the key to achieve that without struggle. No matter how busy we may be, we deserve to devote just just 1 minute our time to daily practice.

Here's an easy way of incorporating meditation practice in your everyday life:

Take ju...

Spring and Fall are the periods of transformation in nature and have a great impact on our inner transformation also. Most people suffer from seasonal allergies during this time due to increased concentration of allergens like dust/pollen in the atmosphere.

I’d like to share a few tips here to help you get relief from seasonal allergies in a natural way.

1. Learn to understand your allergic response

According to the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda, we all have a unique body composition with which we are born. Our unique body type is determined by the presence of various combinations of earth, water, fire, air and space elements in our cells. As we experience changes in our external environment, based on our unique internal body compo...

Our life is a precious gift bestowed upon us by our creator. It is an adventurous journey which has unpredictable highs and lows, just like a roller-coaster ride. We are born out of love and we all live to share and experience love. We all cherish our good times and always look forward to more such experiences. However, life presents to us all kind of situations to deal with and sometimes it gets really hard for most of us to cope up with the unexpected challenges of our life. We may choose to move on either by constantly complaining about our challenges, or by gracefully accepting them as an opportunity to learn and grow. We are inherently programmed to avoid any real or perceived pain, and we constantly work towards attracting...

Our breath is the most important link between our physical body and spiritual energy. There is a strong connection between our breath, mind and energy. If we alter the rhythm or pace of any one of them, the other two follow along. You may have noticed that whenever a lot of thoughts are racing through your mind, your breathing pace starts to increase and your energy level starts to go down. Similarly, if we start to think about something positive, slowly our energy levels begin to increase, and our breathing also becomes deeper with a sense of calm. Controlled breathing is a very beautiful tool which can help us quickly energize and feel at peace. We can easily learn to alter our mood and energy level, just by controlling the fl...
